Jewelry Care Guide

to give your pieces the TLC they need ♡

How do I care for my handmade jewelry?

Finding your perfect handmade piece is only the first step. Now, it’s time to give your jewelry the TLC it needs to stay shining for years.

Storing Your Jewelry

Why store your jewelry when you can wear it? The best way to keep your sterling silver from tarnishing is to wear it. Storing in a jewelry box will actually make it tarnish faster.

If you do decide to store your pieces, we recommend storing your jewelry in a dry, air-resistant space (e.g., plastic baggie, box or suede bag it shipped in, or jewelry box).

DO NOT store your jewelry in the bathroom.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

The process for cleaning your handmade jewelry will depend on the material of your piece. Here’s what we recommend.

Gold-Filled

Gold-filled pieces will not tarnish or chip, and can be cleaned with a non-abrasive soft cloth. Occasionally wipe clean with a damp cloth to remove dead skin and any other dirt accrual.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time due to various factors including (but not limited to) moisture and humidity. Some lotions and oils can cause your pieces to tarnish even quicker. To remove tarnish and oxidation, wipe clean with a mild abrasive jewelry cloth or a gentle microfiber cloth. The best way to keep your sterling silver from tarnishing is to wear it. The oils from your skin will keep it looking stylish and beautiful.
